Mumbai Strikers SC put up a gutsy performance against Karnataka Sports Association (KSA) as they recorded their first point ever in their Elite division season.
KSA were at their best right from kick off with some excellent attacking play. However, MS looked like an improved and more organised side compared to their last two performances. KSA came close to scoring early in the game but saw the effort hit the crossbar and out. The golden moment arrived when MS midfielder Arsalan H set it up for Arnold M who brilliantly tapped it into the KSA net in the 39th minute. MS soaked the pressure from repetitive KSA attacks finishing the half a goal to nil.
The Second half saw MS let KSA have majority of the possession as they sat back and defended as a unit. MS got occasional counter attack opportunities as Akshay D and Ravish D exploited the KSA defence. KSA got their breakthrough in the 90th minute as their striker managed to head the ball in the goal via a cross. The game got interesting in the dying minutes as both sides started to push for the winning goal. MS got their chance to win it as an Akshay D attempt was saved by the onrushing KSA keeper. The match ended in a draw as the score read 1-1 at full time.
MS registered their debut first point of the Elite season and look to keep the momentum going as they face an experienced Mumbai Customs in the next encounter on 20th of December.
