MS were slotted against GMSC in their first game of the Elite Division season at the Neville D’Souza Ground in Bandra. With new recruits in the squad, MS seem a decent combination of youth & experience for this year’s campaign. GMSC on the other hand looked fitter, intense and new as well.

The match began with tremendous intensity to say the least as both sides had their share of chances on goal. MS attacked very well and came close to scoring through Akshay D, but the ball missed the goal by a whisker. However, that boosted the morale of the team and was a sign of better things to come in the game. GMSC also had their chance while they caught the MS defense napping on one occasion. Despite a good combination play, they failed to convert the chance. At the break, the deadlock still wasn’t broken.

The second half was all a matter of who would score first as both teams heightened the drama. A few tackles were all over the place increasing the pace and temperature of the game. In the midst of all the heated action, MS midfielder Ravish D’s exquisite pass was well converted by Akshay D’s header that lobbed over the keeper. After the 61st minute goal, GMSC piled on the pressure and took the MS defence to task despite bad light. A stubborn MS defense kept all their chances at bay and prevailed victorious, marching away with all 3 points.

The players have shown renewed confidence in their first game and will hope to continue with the same form against KSA on 13th November.
