MS Head Coach Sandeep Singh sprinkled the opening game with some newness by adding 5 new debutantes who had major impact in the encounter against Sellebrity FC. Some might think it was the perfect recipe for the biggest risk as many senior players were left out.
However, the new boys did not disappoint the team as they exhibited enough to seal their place in the squad. Dilip Manoharan featured as the left winger and took the task to the opponents on several occasions. He also had chances on goal which unfortunately were not converted. His attacking prowess is an asset and his confidence might get him some goals in the season. Nazeef Chembakassery and Amit Koli held the Defensive Midfielders position and did more than what their job roles would demand. There were moments when they setup some brilliant attacking moves and they are not someone you would think will only remain defensive. Himesh Mistry was introduced as a Left Full Back and was effective as required. Cutting down several attacks of the opponents was a part of his job but he made his presence felt in the attacking department at times with some dangerous passing towards goal. On his debut, Himesh also contributed to the winning goal by providing the valuable assist to Jay Wadhwa which helped MS secure a win in the first game. Charwin Ambhire was the last one to be introduced as he featured in the 70th minute of the game. Within a few minutes of his entrance, he struck a fabulous volley through a scissor kick mid air, which hit the crossbar and came back into the game. Charwin is capable of driving into dangerous areas towards goal from the wing. His fleet footed speed allows him to get past defenders who may find it difficult to reach him.
More new signings are awaited this season and they will make their debut in the matches to come. This season seems to be a lot more about the next generation of players and Coach Sandeep Singh hopes it will work for the better of the club.
