Mumbai Strikers SC were in for the biggest game of their first ever Elite Division campaign as they faced defending champions Air India. The encounter took place at the Cooperage Stadium on 7th October 2017 and both teams intended to put their best foot forward as it was the first game of the season for both.
It was not a very good start for the new comers as MS conceded a goal within a minute of kick off. In the next 10 minutes, Air India took advantage of a defensive lapse and scored another one to make the scoreline 2-0 in 12 minutes. However, there was some respite as MS striker Ravish D slammed in an unsaveable scorcher from almost 25 yards away in the 18th minute. Immediately, a dented Air India ramped up the momentum and took every chance of scoring since then. By half time, Air India scored four more and the score read 6-1 in their favour.
After half time, MS looked more determined and functioned as a unit in the defense. It was much difficult for the Air men to penetrate like in the first half. However, MS conceded two goals by the end of regulation time. The score read 8-1 at the end of a one sided-affair.
MS will now face Century Rayon in their next match on 15th October 2017 and will look to get maximum points.
