Captain Rakesh Patne’s penalty kick was enough to see off a resilient GMSC at the Western Railway Ground, Lower Parel. The venue has been assigned to the Elite Division for some of this seasons matches and the surface had its own tests in this intensely competitive contest.

GMSC seemed a highly fit and physical side. Their aggressive and clattering tackles were all over the field. MS were restricted in the number of chances that they would usually create and the plague of not converting continued in this match too. However, MS were a well organised defensive side and the same could be mentioned about GMSC as the score read 0-0 at the break.

The second half was more physical as both teams vied for that crucial victory. Continuing the aggression, a GMSC defender produced an unnecessary tackle in the penalty area on Striker Akshay D earning MS a spot kick. Captain Rakesh Patne took the onus of the kick and calmly converted it to put MS in the drivers seat. MS kept up the pressure from thereon and the defense were on their toes making sure they don’t concede.

MS collected all points and added another win in their kitty. With 12 points from 6 games, MS stand unbeaten and are strong title contenders for now.
