Since the winner against SBI in October, Mumbai Strikers SC played their second match of the Super Division campaign on 18th January 2017 at the Andheri Sports Complex Ground. On a warm afternoon, MS faced Income Tax and looked to continue the winning streak.
MS dominated proceedings right from kick off and kept the Income Tax defence on their toes. The attacking personnel created several chances but they went down the drain as all of them were not converted. While MS still looked for a breakthrough, the momentum changed in favour of the taxmen. It was a sigh of relief, when the resilient Income Tax won a penalty as one of their players was tripped by a sloppy back tackle by MS defender Karan P. Much to the disappointment of MS, the spot kick was converted and the score read 1-0 in favor of Income Tax. In a quick reply, MS forward Akshay D supplied an excellent pass which penetrated through the Income Tax defense and found Ravish D. It was yet another day at office for Ravish D who finished the move by a simple tap in to the Income Tax net. The score read 1-1 at the end of half time.
The second half was a tough one as both teams vied to break the deadlock. The chances kept on pouring for MS but none were converted. At the end of 90 minutes, the game ended 1-1 and both teams took home a point each. MS Head Coach Firmin D stated that there is more room for improvement especially in the attacking department and the team will come back stronger than before.
