The University of Mumbai Football Team will be participating in the West Zone Inter-University Men's Football Tournament to be held from the 5th of January to the 12th of January 2017. The tournament will be held at the Barkatullah University located in Bhopal.

It is a moment of pride for Mumbai Strikers SC as midfielder Akshay Saraf has been selected in the squad that will represent the University of Mumbai at the tournament. Akshay S, who has been assigned the No.18 jersey, is the first player from his college S.M Shetty to be selected for the University team. He also leads the college team in various tournaments and has a strong presence in the midfield. Akshay went through the trials which spanned nearly two months and his selection was announced on the 4th of January after a practice match with KSA’s elite division squad.
