Mumbai Strikers SC have been promoted to the Elite Division for the first time since its inception in 1998. After achieving the third spot in the Super Division Season this year, MS have qualified for the highest level of football in Mumbai.

MS had a thrilling run of 15 games this Super Division season. After qualifying for the playoffs, they were pooled with Mumbai FC U19, Air India U19, Century Rayon, Mumbai Warriors and Bank of India. In the round robin league of the playoffs, MS defeated Mumbai FC U19, Mumbai Warriors and Bank of India while they could not overcome Century Rayon and Air India U19. Grabbing 9 points in 5 games, MS stood third and were promoted to the next division. The icing on the cake was the nomination of Akshay Devadiga and Abhishek Singh in the Best Striker and Best Goalkeeper category respectively at the MDFA Awards Night.

The journey of MS from the Fourth Division to the Elite Division has been a tough one. MS were promoted to the Third Division in their first season of Division Four but since then spent many years in the rough. After nearly 6 seasons in Division Three, MS earned promotion to the Second Division where they spent 4 years. The years up to the Second Division were travelled without a head coach for a team.

Things changed in Division One when MS signed a Head Coach for the first time in the form of Firmin D’souza. He brought about a drastic change in the training methods, strategy and outlook of the entire team. The results were evident when in the third season of the First Division, MS grabbed the Championship and were promoted to the Super Division. It was a daunting task ahead but the strategy remained the same. In the first season of the Super Division, MS qualified for the semi-final against Air India U19, but were on the losing end and finished fourth.

Come 2016-17, MS were in their second season of the Super Division and it proved to be much better than the previous one as they landed the third spot and the prize, Elite Division next season.

We would like to thank each and every member of the MS family and also its well wishers and fans for being with us and believing in us. We hope to go a long way with you. See you next season!
