Mumbai Strikers SCs Winning Streak Ends

Written by

In a very tight encounter between MSSC and group leaders Desperados FC, the latter emerged victorious with a score line of 2-1. It was the fourth match of the campaign for MSSC and winning it would have been a great step forward into the new year. However, the result was different at the St. Xaviers Grounds, Parel on the 17th of December.

The climate was most favorable for a wonderful game of football and both the teams stepped on the field knowing it was a crucial encounter. MSSC introduced new signing Ryan F as they did not have their regular keeper Leon M and Midfielders Rohit D and Sunil P as they were unfit for the game. Both sides exchanged blows until Desperados drew first blood as their Striker made an intelligent run to find himself free between both the Centre Backs and converted a magnificent overhead pass into the penalty area. In less than 7 mins from the goal, Ravish D scored a belter of a goal from outside the penalty area, leaving the keeper blinded. The score board read 1-1 at half time.

In the second half, both the teams were in attacking mode trying to move ahead on the score line. Desperados FC took the lead again this time as a feeble clearance from defender Arnold M landed right at the foot of the same Desperados FC Striker who smashed the MSSC net with a volley. MSSC did not let go easily as they tried creating chances and attacked the opponents frantically. Hopes built up when Ravish D earned a penalty kick and all the players on and off the field suddenly grew energetic. Ravish D confidently stepped up to take the penalty kick but an equally confident Desperados keeper flew to make a double save of the shot from Ravish D. He ensured that Desperados FC went home with all three points in their pocket. At the end of it all the score line was 2-1 and certainly the goal keeper was the man of the match.
