Mumbai Strikers (MS) fell to a 4-0 defeat to GM Sports Club on the opening matchday of their 2022/23 MFA Premier Division season.

GMSC got their opener midway through the first half as a poor clearance by MS goalkeeper Abhishek Singh fell to the GMSC striker, who slotted it home over the keeper with his precise volley attempt.

MS regained composure and were able to create chances of their own but failed to keep it on target. The first half ended 1-0 to GMSC.

MS unfortunately went two goals down early in the second half. A dangerous cross from the right flank in the six yard box was partially deflected by MS centre back Ravish D'souza, but landed perfectly for a tap in to the following GMSC striker. GMSC got their third and fourth goals in the final minutes of the match to pile on the misery.

MS had several chances to reduce the margin but were wastefull with the final finishing attempts.

MS will look to put this result behind them as they face Kenkre FC in their next encounter on Monday, 12th of December.
