The Mumbai Strikers Womens Rugby Team players represented the Mumbai Suburban Rugby Team in the Senior Maharashtra Inter-District Rugby Championship organised by RAM (Rugby Association of Maharashtra). In its very first year itself, the Mumbai Suburban Rugby team shocked everyone by winning the title in their very first tournament.

The team comprised of Mumbai Strikers Womens Rugby team players Durga Patil(C), Ruchi Shetty, Gargee Walekar, Sreeya Shetty & Shikha Thakkar. The squad also had Kabaddi players plying their trade in Roopali Bodhe, Aishwarya Lubde, Harshada More, Bhagyashree Mane & Payal Kanojiya (Magicians RC), Christina Francis (Magicians RC). The Mumbai Suburban team was trained by Mumbai Strikers Senior Mens Rugby Team player Mr. Sudarshan Narasimhan from the past one month.

Representing the area of Mumbai Suburbs, the girls eased through the group stages without conceding a single defeat. In the Semi Final against Kolhapur, a well contested game finally ended in favor of the girls, when Gargee Walekar scored the only try in the entire match. The suburban girls eased past Nashik in the Finals as Gargee Walekar and Ruchi Shetty scored 2 tries each beating the opposition 22-0. The girls only conceded a single try in the entire tournament. Thanks to some great team work and fabulous defending. Gargee Walekar was announced as the top scorer for the team as well as the top scorer of the championship scoring a total of seven tries.

A great display of skill and hardwork showcased by the girls resulted in the maiden trophy for them. Congratulations to the girls for such a great achievement and we hope they keep bringing in the silverware.
