Mumbai Strikers Rugby Men make it big at the Poona Cup

The Mumbai Strikers Men’s Rugby Team participated in the prestigious Poona Cup tourney which was held at the plush Bombay Gymkhana ground on the 18th of October, 2014. They ended up as bowl finalists and eventually lost to Bombay Gym Colts who grabbed the Bowl Championship.

MS Rugby Men began their campaign with a loss at the hands of Maharashtra State Police who won 4-0. The MS Rugby Men did not give up hope as they faced and defeated the home team Bombay Gym who are one of the top ranked clubs in the country by a score line of 2-0. The successful run continued as they went on to beat a tough opponent, Ace Foundation 19-12 and consecutively Cathedral Boys by a clear 12-0. The victories enabled them to qualify for the Bowl finals where they lost to Bombay Gym Colts as mentioned earlier. The Colts won 4-1. Kirk A, Keagen A, Ajay N, Vijay N and Arun T all contributed in the overall scores in this tournament.

The Cup Champions were Maharashtra State Police and Bombay Gymkhana won the Plate.
