In another successful international trip, the rugby women grabbed the limelight by securing the runners up position in the Asian Rugby Sevens Trophy held in Laos on the 17th and 18th of February. Team India were impressive as they beat the likes of Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines and home team Laos. The Indian Women were on a roll as they convincingly beat all the teams to qualify for the next round where they faced Pakistan.

The neighbours put up a tough fight as Team India were tested. However, they edged past Pakistan by a score of 5-0 to qualify for the finale against top seed South Korea. In the final, South Korea etched a power packed performance and proved their top seed positioning by defeating the Indian Women. South Korea emerged champions after knocking out the Indian Women 22-0.

Mumbai Strikers SC congratulates Ruchi Shetty and the entire squad of the Indian Women’s Rugby Team along with its technical staff. We wish them nothing but success in the events to come during this year.
