Mumbai Strikers SC registered a thumping 4-0 victory against Juhu based outfit, Juhu Beach United. It was a much needed victory to stay in contention for the next stage of the tournament. MSSC have played the Juhu Beach squad in earlier seasons and therefore stepped in with some knowledge of their tactics and players. However, MSSC knew they did not have to take this game lightly and went all guns blazing with the play off stage in mind.
The first half saw a lot of attacks from MSSC which either ended up with corner kicks or being denied by the defence. The Juhu defence managed to pile up the frustration on the MSSC attack line by denying them several chances on goal. Juhu Beach United almost broke the deadlock when one of the strikers had an open chance on goal well near the six yard box, but managed to squander it with a misdirected shot. The first half ended goalless much to the disappointment of both the teams.
MSSC entered the second half knowing that they had to score and not repeat the first half. To make that sure, Coach Firmin D called for a change in strategy and players. Sagar S replaced Akshay D in the attack. In not less than 7 mins from the start, super sub Sagar S opened the scoring for MSSC when an accurate overhead pass to him by Akshay S helped him find the net. MSSC picked up pace from here and went on to score the second in a span of few mins through Ravish D who calmly sent the ball into the net. The Juhu defence had somewhat opened up courtesy the change in play by MSSC and making full use of that Pranav M and Abhijit S also buried one a piece past the keeper to record a 4-0 win.
MSSC have now won 5 of their 7 games and are in strong contention for the play off spot. They will face Vintage Dahisar FC in their last league match on March 11 and it will be the decider as to who will progress into the next stage.
