Mumbai Strikers SC won their first game of the inaugural Mulund Football League 2015 which was held at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Grounds, Nahur Village. They went on to defeat St. Pius Sports Club by a close score line of 5-4 as the match witnessed a nail-biting finish. It was a tough draw right from the start as both the teams featured fit and swift players.

MSSC drew first blood as Aditya S scored an opportunistic goal as he placed one at the bottom corner. It wasn’t very long before St. Pius replied with a goal of similar style. Quick transitions in the game and possession made it a thrilling spectacle for the audience who came in large numbers. They were at the edge of their seats as the goals kept coming from both sides at regular intervals in the game. MSSC took the lead again as Akshay D scored a tap in via a cross after some neat work down the flanks by Ravish D. St. Pius shot back with an equaliser within minutes as the action was end to end. Ravish D got MSSC back in the lead with a low drive to the far post from outside the box leaving the Pius custodian a mere spectator. Some bad defending and poor marking by the MSSC defense got St. Pius back into the game as their forward manged to chest the ball in the goal via a freekick. The score read 3-3. At one point it seemed as if MSSC lost the plot and were at the downside of the scoreboard that read 4-3. A well taken corner kick and a neat header by the St. Pius forward saw St. Pius take the lead for the first time in the match. However, a timely equaliser by Akshay D got MSSC back in the game when he met a Pranav M cross with a brave header past the fisting St. Pius Keeper to keep MSSC hopes alive. After which Akshay S scored the decider with a neat placement to the side of the onrushing St. Pius keeper to see MSSC home with all 3 points. The score read 5-4 and MSSC registered their first win in the Mulund Football League. Mumbai Strikers forward Akshay D. was rightly declared the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance with 2 goals to his credit.

Mumbai Strikers will lock horns with Cosmos FC in their next match of the league on 2nd August 2015.
