MSSC beat Vintage Dahisar FC to Book their Spot in the Play-offs

Written by

Mumbai Strikers SC made it to the play-offs yet again by defeating Vintage Dahisar FC with a score line of 3-1 in their last league encounter on 11th March at the St Xaviers Ground, Parel. Both teams vied for a spot in the next stage of the tournament as Vintage Dahisar needed to win this match to earn the desired place in the play-offs while a draw would suffice for MSSC. However, MSSC went for the kill with new strategies in place as Vintage were well known for their speed and ball play.

MSSC drew first blood within 20 mins as attacking spear-head Ravish D sent one past the Vintage keeper by placing the ball accurately to the far post. However, after 7 mins Vintage Dahisar earned a spot kick as a controversial handball by MS defender Ryan T was given by the referee. The Vintage striker slammed a confident penalty kick past MS goalkeeper Ryan F to make it 1-1. Towards the dying minutes of the first half, MSSC earned a free kick in a dangerous position for Vintage. MS midfielder Rakesh P set it up for Ravish D who curled the ball in the air via a brilliant out step shot but it hit the far post. Akshay D who was in a good position anticipated well and rushed in to score a sitter to give MSSC the lead again. The score ended 2-1 in favour of MSSC at the end of the half.

MSSC stepped in with an advantage and keeping the score as it was would help them qualify for the play-off. But that was not enough as Akshay D went on to score his second of the game after meeting a through pass by Ravish D, rounding the goalkeeper and exquisitely placing the ball to the far post. MSSC had now done enough to qualify for the play-offs again as the final whistle blew and the score read 3-1. The play-off stages will begin shortly and MSSC are preparing to face some of the best teams in the division.
