Mumbai Strikers SC launched its first Men’s Basketball Team since inception after almost a month and a half of try outs. MS is known for its interest in team sports and a basketball team was on the cards since a year. This time around, MS decided to launch the team in the Sporting Lions Fiesta 2015, which was a multi sport event that included basketball as well. The tournament was held at the recently renovated Lions Club Municipal Ground at Santacruz. Basketball was slotted to be played from 11th to 17th of April 2015.

MS played its first match on 14th April 2015 against Team Elevate. Being the debut tournament, MS held on to its nerves knowing they are up against experienced and well organised teams. MS put up a tough fight in the encounter as the score board read 60-32 in favor of Team Elevate. The second match was held on 16th April and MS were drawn against State Bank of India (SBI). SBI withdrew from the tournament due to unknown reasons and MS qualified for the Semi Final against TCS. TCS, who are known to have won many basketball tournaments in the city were in for a shocker as MS put up a magical performance and almost closed in on victory. However, TCS had the winning edge while MS fell short of a few points and lost 39-32 after an impressive show.

The lads displayed grit as they gave a tough fight in spite of being the underdogs and are highly motivated to play more tournaments and of course, perform better.
