MS Girls Grab Runners-up Spot for Maharashtra in the Senior Nationals Rugby Sevens Championship

The girls from MS have formed a good habit of shining bright at the competitive level. They are in the news yet again as Maharashtra took the runners-up trophy at the Senior National Rugby Sevens Championship. The tournament included both categories i.e Men & Women and was held at Patna’s Pataliputra Stadium. The event which was held from 5th August to the 7th of August was organised under the aegis of the Rugby Football Association of Bihar (RFAB). Ruchi Shetty, Shikha Thakkar and Gargee Walekar from MS were a part of the Maharashtra squad.

The Maharashtrian unit had a winning run throughout the tournament upto the semi-final. In their first match they pipped Uttar Pradesh by 25-0 while they comprehensively ran over Haryana by a scoreline of 41-0. It got tougher in the quarter finals against Kerala, but the girls managed to win 17-5. In the semi-final they were drawn against West Bengal which was a thriller. However, Maharashtra ended victorius by beat them by a close 12-7 scoreline. Maharashtra faced Odisha in the finale and were beaten by an unsassailable 19-5.

MS congratulates Ruchi, Shikha and Gargee on their latest achievement and wish them luck for future competitions.
