A New initiative by MS Rugby at Nahur brings smiles to the local lads

Written by
As an initiative to promote rugby among the locals, the MS Rugby Men’s team have begun training children who are regulars at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Ground more famous as Nahur Ground.

The number of children attending the free initiative has been increasing by the day. In a session conducted on January 3, 2015 focus was laid on the basics of rugby. The session was conducted by MS Rugby team members Vinit Mandavkar and Arun Thomas. Every week two members from the MS Rugby team commit some time of their schedule to train these enthusiastic kids. The session was attended by 10 children at the venue which was really a good number to start off this initiative.

The session aimed at inculcating basic hand eye coordination and a sense of the game of rugby. The session began with a game of Tag to warm up and get the kids going. It was followed by basic worm left right passes and then worm up down passes and then to end the session, an exciting 7 pass game was conducted. This session is one of many to come which is aimed at promoting and educating the new generation about Rugby as a sport.
