Not a result that was expected after such a prolific run in the Elite Division season, the Strikers were handed their first loss by Kenkre FC at the Cooperage Grounds. Considered to be one of the most important match of this season, MS aimed to go for the kill right from the start. However, Kenkre FC put up an elegant performance to outsmart the Strikers on an intense and warm afternoon.

MS maintained great shape to keep the pressure on the opponents in most of the first half. MS created several chances that could end up at the back of the net, but failed to do so yet again. Kenkre FC geared up a bit and retaliated with some good moves. However, both the teams blanked in the first half.

The second half turned out to be more eventful and action packed as expected. Kenkre FC fired in 2 quick goals in a span of 10 minutes as they capitalised on the defensive errors. An already upbeat Kenkre increased the intensity and took MS to task on several occasions. In the 76th minute, MS midfielder Nazeef C scored a goal of individual brilliance by brushing past three defenders and slotting the ball calmly across the Kenkre Keeper. However, the effort was not enough to bring back the Strikers into the game and proved to be somewhat of a consolation goal.

MS face table toppers U Mumba in their next bout and will look to bounce back after this defeat.
