ICTRC 2016 finds more talent this year

The Independence Cup Touch Rugby Championship 2016 uncovered fresh talent in the sport of Rugby as the fourth edition of the tournament ended successfully. The ICTRC  was held on the 21st of August under the aegis of the Rugby Union of Mumbai Suburbs (RUMS). The entire event was conceptualised and organised by Sportsworks India with their technical partners being Mumbai Strikers Sports Club.

The tournament had three categories viz Men’s, Women’s and Mixed. There were 9 teams in the Mens Category while 6 teams in the other two. The number of participants amassed to 150 on the day. It was a pleasant day for a game of rugby and the conditions were nothing but perfect. The atmosphere was ecstatic as the audience were entertained by some thrilling encounters on the field. At the end of it all, Team New Zeala stunned Ace Foundation in the finals to win the Men’s Category. The MS Women’s team grabbed the honours in the Women’s category as they pipped Wolverines to the title. The Wolverines, a Mulund Touch Rugby League outfit, did well to enter the finals on their debut. In the Mixed Category, the MS Mixed Team beat the local team Nahur to finish first.

Mr. Vaibhav Patil along with Mr. Ganesh Jadhav came along to give away the prizes to the winners and runners-up and also shared a few words of encouragement.
