While all of us are aware and are bearing the brunt of the Covid19 pandemic that has hit the world, there are some who are fighting it at the front. The authorities along with health workers are daily facing battles to combat the deadly virus. There are some who are doing the same on a voluntary basis. Mumbai emerging as one of the hotbeds during this crisis has been worrisome and clearly the most affected was the huge slum of Dharavi. Many cases developing on a daily basis and mortality rates were on the rise. Despite this fact, there were people who took up the initiative to serve the residents in the time of distress. One of whom was a resident himself and MS midfielder Rishabh Vishwakarma. Rishabh took part in volunteering and serving those affected by the situation in his area, especially migrant workers.
Rishabh worked in association with the Actionaid Organization India, Dharawe Foundation and the Don Bosco Oratory. The organizations combined and promoted the STAY HOME STAY HEALTHY and STAY HOME HAPPY FAMILY Campaigns. Under these initiatives, the volunteers provided affected families with ration kits and helped migrant workers with daily meals. They also went on to provide financial support to nearly 12 families which is commendable.
We also credit Mehtab Ansari, Ruman Ansari and Karan who along with Rishabh were an integral part of the campaign. Mumbai Strikers SC are proud and happy to have members who do their bit of service towards the community in the time of need.
