St. Mary’s girls make a commendable debut in MSSA

Under the guidance of coaches Rohit D’souza & Nilesh Kudatarkar, the girls from St. Marys have made a dream debut in the MSSA U-17 Football Tournament. As mentioned, this was the first time ever they have participated in competitive football and their performance was amazing considering they are debutantes. They went on to defeat teams from reputed schools all the way till the playoffs.

In their first match, they defeated Aditya Birla girls 3-0 where Shreya Bhat and Ishita Chande were scorers. The second encounter against Canossa Convent, Andheri was a huge hit as they cruised to an 8-0 win. Gargee Walekar scored a hat-trick while Anisha S, Saloni K, Jenisha C, Sayali K pooled in a goal each. Gargee led the girls to a straight third win against Holy Name, Fort by scoring the only goal of the match. The girls topped the group to qualify for the playoffs and faced Dhirubhai Ambani International in the first match. The opponents proved to be a heavier bunch as they defeated St. Mary’s 4-0 and showed them the door.
