In a must win match to keep their play-off dreams on course, Mumbai Strikers SC scripted a brave comeback against Mumbai Muslims who were on a roll as well. The exciting bout was held at the St Xaviers Ground, Parel under lights and the atmosphere was buzzing with the crowd cheering from the stands.

It was slated to be a thrilling encounter as both teams had decent results in their previous matches making this a must win for both. The Mumbai Muslims put enough pressure on MS during the first half and one attempt was converted by their in-form striker. The deadlock was broken in the 37th minute giving them a slender 1-0 lead into half-time.

The second half belonged to MS as they came all guns blazing and nailed the Mumbai Muslims defense on several occasions. An accurate Omkar Sawant free kick found debutante defender for MS, Madhusudan in a goal bound position whose header disappointingly ricocheted off the upright. A few minutes later, super sub Saurabh S played the perfect overhead pass to MS striker Akshay D. Akshay’s pass to Arsalan H was more than perfect and allowed Arsalan a free header into the net. The scores tied at 1-1 and both teams now vied for the drivers seat. After a tiring 80 minutes, the Mumbai Strikers pressed harder into the defensive area of the opponents. The second goal for MS came after a textbook pass of superior quality by Reuel K found Arsalan waiting unmarked within 15 yards of the goal. Arsalan confidently placed the ball into the Mumbai Muslims net and sealed the game for MS.

MS stand steady at 4th on the table and still have five games in hand. With three wins and two draws so far, MS need to focus on the upcoming games.
